Kids Literature Quiz

The 6th annual Kids Lit Quiz™ is a major international literature competition where teams of students work together to answer wide-ranging literary questions.
Exclusive Books is pleased to announce their sponsorship of the quiz for the fourth year and will be providing book vouchers and cash prizes to the winning teams. The Kids' Lit Quiz, dubbed the Olympic Games of Reading, aims to motivate children and young people to read for pleasure and develop the habit of sustained reading by offering them irresistible reading challenges and enormous fun with a competitive element and great team-building opportunities. It is open to all schools with Year 5, 6 or 7 students. Wayne Mills, a senior lecturer in Children’s literature at the Auckland college of Education will be testing the students. The students will work in teams of four and will be expected to collaboratively answer 100 questions arranged in ten categories. Regional heats will be held in Cape Town, Port Elizabeth, Durban, Pietermaritzburg and Johannesburg from 27th July – 30th July 2009. The national finals will be conducted at the Rosebank Exclusive Books on 1st August and for the first time ever the world finals will be held in South Africa on the 3rd August 2009 at Constitutional Hill.
