The Golden Baobab Prize

We have some exciting news for published writers under the age of 40! In April 2014, Africa39 will announce 39 of the most promising African writers of fiction under the age of 40. Binyavanga Wainana, a renowned Kenyan author, has been tasked with putting together a longlist of 120 of the most promising fiction authors under the age of 40 from Africa South of the Sahara and diaspora. 39 writers on this list will go on to be named the Africa39. The Africa39 Project is a partnership between the Hay Festival of Literature & the Arts Ltd., UK; and the Rainbow Book Club (Port Harcourt, Nigeria). We would love for all published authors to apply for Africa39 because it is important that African children's writers represent on this list. We are writing to Binyavanga with a list of authors whose applications he should expect so please send us an email by end of day tomorrow (5th December) if you are interested and we will include you on this list. We received this information quite late and have been told that the deadline for submission is 10th December. It is therefore crucial that you begin your application immediately, since there are only 6 days left.
