Second South African Writers' Symposium - Call for Papers

Striving for Excellence in South African Literature" - 8-10 March 2012

DEADLINE FOR SUBMISSIONS: 31 JANUARY 2012

INTRODUCTION
The Centre for the Book is hosting the second South African Writers' Symposium from 8 – 10 March 2012 in Cape Town.

Members of the public, publishers,

librarians, booksellers, printers, authors, academics, and all other relevant stakeholders are hereby invited to submit their proposals for presentation at the symposium. The proposal should include the title of the paper, outline of the proposed presentation (no more than 350 words), name(s) of presenter(s) and position or title of presenter(s).

OBJECTIVES OF THE SYMPOSIUM
  • Advance writing and publishing interests of South African writers
  • Provide South African writers with a platform to network
  • Encourage writers to write for children as well as people with special needs
  • Discuss intensively how to develop reading interest in local languages
  • Provide better understanding to writers on book development stages
  • Equip writers with marketing and distribution strategies
  • TOPICS
    Below is a list of topics that will be addressed at the symposium.  The list provides a guideline and is not cast in stone.
